Kim Clijsters has beaten Serena Williams to book a place in the US Open final after the defending champion was issued with a code violation on match point. Serena was docked a point for yelling at an official who called a foot fault when trailing 5-6, 15-30 in the second set. The unseeded Clijsters reached the final after winning 6-4 7-5. Williams allegedly made a threat against the line judge, who then reported it to the chair umpire. That led to the chair umpire awarding a point to Clijsters, ending the match. 2005 champion Clijsters will now take on Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark in the final, after the No.9 seed Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 6-3.
