Bee Gees - I've Gotta Get A Message To You (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
The Bee Gees - I've Gotta Get A Message To You (HQ 1080p HD Upscale) "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" is a song recorded by the Bee Gees in 1968, which became their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart, and reached number eight on the U.S. pop chart. In the United Kingdom the song was released as a single only. The song appeared on the U.S. edition of the Bee Gees' third album Idea, But not in the United Kingdom. The Vince Melouney's track "Such a Shame" appeared instead in the UK but both songs are featured on the CD edition released circa 1991. The song is about a man who, awaiting his execution in the electric chair, begs the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife. Robin Gibb, who wrote the lyrics, said that the man's crime was the murder of his wife's lover. He came up with the idea following a quarrel with his wife and originally conceived the song with Percy Sledge in mind to record it. (In fact, Sledge did record it in February, 1970, but Atlantic did not issue it in the United States at the time.) "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" has appeared in five versions all made from the same recording, but heard at three different speeds, faded out at three different points, and with different elements mixed forward. As to the speed, Bill Inglot said in 1999 that the mix he made for the Tales from the Brothers Gibb box in 1990 is at the correct real tape speed. This speed is intermediate between the mono and stereo mixes released in 1968. To correct the speed, play the mono single mix at 98.8% and the LP stereo mix at 103.0%, which brings them to the correct timing. Info source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27ve_Gotta_Get_a_Message_to_You To those of you making requests for obscure and hard to get videos, just remember that it is not always possible to give you what you want. Those that I am able to do I hope you enjoy. Now this is a very old Bee Gees video and I doubt many of you will remember ever seeing them or hearing them quite like this! I've removed just about all the noise from the video, including one damaged frame. I've tweaked the color and lighting as much as possible also. Just keep in mind that this is a VERY old video and the quality is not very good in any available source file. I've pushed it as far as it can go. Now the audio is a strange affair. There are versions of this video clip in mono and versions in stereo. I have a stereo version but this is very old and early stereo. What does this mean? Well basically in very old stereo recordings there is no perceived 'center' to the music. In today's recordings you'll usually hear the vocals in the center of the stereo sound field with the instruments panning out via the left and right channels. In very old stereo recordings however this 'center' to the sound just didn't exist or it was very poorly done. So in this old stereo recording of the Bee Gees the vocals were coming out of the right channel with a few instruments and other instruments from the left. The center just didn't really exist. This sounds horrible to anyone who is used to listening to modern day stereo recordings. So I've remixed the left and right channels using a channel mixer and created a stereo center. Sounds much better as a result. The sound has also been normalized. This is the best quality online for this ancient video and song from the Bee Gees and I hope you enjoy it! :-) Be aware that some evil people will download my clip restorations, upload them to their own channel and then try to take credit for my hard work. They will even go so far as to say I stole it from them! What goes around comes around and they are storing up some very bad 'karma' for themselves. While I do not own the rights to the music or the videos themselves it is my hard work in restoring these old gems for your enjoyment that is being compromised by any such attempts at smearing my reputation. If you spot these people then let them know that you are aware that they are nothing but liars and losers.
